In the Indian school education system, a “Recognized Board” refers to an educational board or council established by an Act of Parliament, a State Legislature, or an Executive Order of the Central or State Government. Authentic legal certifications for Classes 10 and 12 can only be issued by these approved bodies.
To expand quality educational choices while safeguarding student interests, the Administration of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu has empowered SCERT to evaluate private schooling boards.
Statutory Mandate
Operational Approval: SCERT, UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, reserves the authority to grant formal approval to private boards seeking to operate within the geographical jurisdiction of the Union Territory.

Universities Conducting School Certificate Courses
An academic certificate for Class 10th or Class 12th issued directly by a University is legally valid and recognized if the university itself was established by the State or Central Government through one of three legal frameworks:
- An Act of Parliament: Central Universities empowered by national legislation to run school-level divisions.
- A State Legislature Act: State Universities authorized by local state legislation to offer intermediate/secondary programs.
- An Executive Order / Gazette Notification: Institutions granted Deemed-to-be-University status under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, with approved school education boards.
